Lake Stanley Draper Fishing Guide: Piers, Bass & City License
Lake Stanley Draper fishing gives Oklahoma City anglers access to a large city reservoir with multiple piers, ramps, tending docks and fish attractors. ODWC lists walleye, hybrid striped bass, catfish, white bass, white crappie and largemouth bass. A City of Oklahoma City fishing permit is required in addition to an Oklahoma state fishing license for anglers ages 16–61 unless an exemption applies. Check current city rules and exemptions before fishing.
Start at a pier or fish from a boat
ODWC lists six fishing piers and four boat-launch sites at Draper. The City identifies covered accessible piers at Points 4, 6, 9, 19 and 23, with ramps and tending docks at the marina and other points. Confirm which facility is open on the City fishing page before you go. From a pier, keep a compact tackle kit and test different casting angles; from a boat, check wind and lake level and avoid unfamiliar shallow areas.
Catfish and hybrid bass starting tactics
For channel or blue catfish, try a bottom rig near a deeper transition or channel and use enough weight to keep the bait in place. For hybrid striped bass and white bass, watch for baitfish or surface activity, then try a small spoon, jig or shad-profile lure. If the fish are not visible, fan-cast points or accessible structure and vary depth before changing lures. The current ODWC Draper page has the species list, map and lake-level link.
Draper has city-managed fish attractors. Consult the current map before navigating to them and mark your location so you can fish safely around other boats. Our catfish guide and report-reading guide offer simple starting plans.
Review city rules, hours and licenses
Oklahoma City lists special rules for city waters, including rod and hook limits, restrictions on certain methods and a city permit requirement. Check the current City regulations and ODWC rules before fishing or keeping fish. Swimming is prohibited at Draper. Check park hours, lake level, weather and pier or ramp status before traveling, and bring a measuring device, water and sun protection.
