Bixhoma Lake Fishing Guide: Bixby Permits, Bass & Crappie

Bixhoma Lake is an approximately 8-mile drive southeast of Bixby in Wagoner County. The city-operated lake has a boat ramp, fishing dock, kayak launch, and hiking trails. Anglers should plan ahead: ODWC says a Bixby fishing license is required in addition to a state fishing license unless exempt, and the city lists additional boating and facility rules.

Species and fishing approach

ODWC’s Bixhoma listing directs anglers to the lake and local licensing information; its fisheries reports provide additional survey context. Try bass lures around points, shoreline cover, and habitat structures, changing depth through the day. For crappie, small jigs or minnows around brush and other submerged cover are a practical starting point. Worms or crickets under a float work well when targeting sunfish. Bixby’s local rules specify special limits for bass, catfish, and crappie, so check the current city regulations before deciding what to keep.

Access and permits

The City of Bixby lists a fishing dock on the south side, a kayak launching dock, a boat dock, and a boat ramp. Access is managed by the city, and its facility page says state licensing requirements still apply alongside city licensing requirements. If you are bringing a state-registered boat, verify the city boat-license rules and current fees before launching. City rules also prohibit swimming and wading.

Before you go

Check the current rules directly with the City of Bixby Lake Bixhoma page and its fishing regulations FAQ. See ODWC’s Bixhoma Lake page for location and license guidance. Local rules and fees can change; posted signs at the lake take priority.
