Boomer Lake Fishing Guide: Bank Access, Bass & Crappie in Stillwater

Boomer Lake is a convenient city fishing spot in Stillwater, Payne County, with shoreline access, a boat ramp, and a paved trail around the water. ODWC lists channel and flathead catfish, largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, and white crappie. The City of Stillwater also notes bass, crappie, perch, and catfish among the fish found here.

Fishing from shore or a small boat

Multiple parking areas and fishing jetties make it easy to try several locations on foot. Start with visible shoreline cover, points, and areas where wind pushes small baitfish. For bass, rotate between a soft plastic and a search bait, slowing down when fish follow without striking. For crappie and sunfish, use a small jig or a worm under a float. Catfish anglers can try cut bait or prepared bait near the bottom, especially around deeper edges.

Two boat ramps are listed by ODWC, including a gravel ramp on the north side; the city identifies the main ramp on the southwest side. Check local signs and current ramp conditions before launching. The south ramp and dock are listed as ADA accessible by ODWC. Swimming is not allowed, according to the City of Stillwater.

Limits and planning

ODWC currently lists no daily or size limit for crappie at Boomer Lake. Other statewide and local rules can apply, so verify the current regulations before keeping fish. The city park page gives details on the trail, restrooms, parking, and boat access. Follow posted park rules and keep fishing lines clear of the walking path and other park users.
