Lake McMurtry Fishing Guide: Crappie, Saugeye & Access
Lake McMurtry is a 1,155-acre lake in Noble County, about six miles north of State Highway 51 via 180 Road. It offers a mix of boat and shoreline fishing within reach of Stillwater. ODWC lists largemouth bass, white bass, channel and flathead catfish, black and white crappie, and saugeye among its sportfish.
Species and seasonal approaches
Crappie anglers have a useful landmark: ODWC notes an enclosed crappie dock on the west side. Try small jigs or minnows around the dock and brush piles, adjusting depth until you find active fish. The lake’s brush piles are placed for anglers, and saugeye are stocked to improve crappie size. For bass, work points, cover, and depth changes with soft plastics or moving lures. Catfish anglers can try cut bait or prepared bait near channel edges and other deeper water.
Access and amenities
ODWC provides the main access directions; lake operations and recreation information are available through Lake McMurtry’s official website. The reservoir has 23.6 miles of shoreline and reaches a listed maximum depth of 43.6 feet. Check current fees, ramp status, dock access, and park hours before traveling, especially if planning to use the enclosed dock or campground facilities.
