Pawnee Lake Fishing Guide: Bass, Crappie & Easy Shore Access
Pawnee Lake is a 310-acre lake in Pawnee County, about two miles north of Pawnee on State Highway 18. ODWC lists 5.4 miles of shoreline and a maximum depth of 24.3 feet. Road access around the lake includes multiple places to pull off and fish, making it an approachable option for a short shore trip.
Species and tactics
ODWC lists channel catfish, largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, and white crappie. For bass, cover the shoreline, points, and visible cover with a small selection of soft plastics and search lures. For crappie and sunfish, try small jigs or worms under a float around brush, vegetation, and other cover. Catfish anglers can fish bait near the bottom around deeper edges. Adjust based on water clarity, wind, and the depth of fish you are marking or catching.
Access and preparation
The south-west boat dock is listed as ADA accessible by ODWC. The department points visitors to local Pawnee recreation resources for facility details. Check launch availability, local fees, and posted rules before traveling, and use established pull-offs rather than blocking roads or private access.
Before you go
Read ODWC’s Pawnee Lake page for current species, directions, and accessibility information. Check Oklahoma fishing regulations for license requirements and current limits, and confirm facilities with local authorities.
