Today we do some Striper fishing on the Lower Illinois River in Oklahoma. If you don’t know some of the huge Oklahoma striped bass come from this stretch of river. We meet up with our Oklahoma fishing guide Rocky Thomas at Gore Landing just before sunrise. It was a hot bluebird sky kind of day. We spent most of the morning fishing topwater and had some success but the fish wouldn’t commit well. We had numerous short strikes and a few misses. We even tried trolling live shad with no success. I caught a largemouth right after leaving the ramp but didn’t even have my camera on… We caught a few nice fish and had a great time.
