White bass FISHING KEYSTONE LAKE Oklahoma. Today I meet up with my buddy Jesse to take the Tracker V-18 and catch some fish on Keystone Lake. We start the day fishing the old pump rig for crappie. We stuck with that for about an hour with no luck. After nothing happened, we decided to do some trolling for white bass. After marking huge schools of fish on the Helix 5 SI fish finder. We dropped some rods loaded with crankbaits in the rod holders and waited for the white bass to bite. Keystone Lake is known to be an Oklahoma Fishing hotspot. We ended up catching some really nice white bass and they cleaned up to be some nice dinner! All in all today’s trip was an Oklahoma Fishing Adventure!

Today I will show you how to troubleshoot battery issues on your boat. I have been having issues with my trolling motor not lasting very long. Before I would head to the lake, I would check my battery gauge and it would say everything was good. However, once I got to the lake my trolling motor would just barely spin. I am running a 2-battery 24v setup and my batteries were not even a year old. I show you how to locate the problem using a voltmeter. In my setup, my battery #2 was only holding at 10v straight off the charger. Battery #1 was still reading 13v so it was still good. I still replaced both batteries because I want to know that both batteries are good. This also ensures that both batteries wear the same and should have a similar life expectancy. I also show you the correct way to wire a 2-bank charger to your 24V system.

Lower Illinois River in Oklahoma fly fishing at its finest. We travel to the Lower Illinois river in Gore Oklahoma to do some fly fishing. Gore Oklahoma is titled the trout capital of Oklahoma. The Lower Illinois river is one of the only year-round fisheries, with the Oklahoma Wildlife Department stocking 100,000 rainbow trout annually at three sites, the River Road Access Area, MarVal Resort, and Tenkiller Powerhouse.  These sites are stocked weekly in March, April, and May; biweekly the rest of the year. While we all really enjoy catching fish on a flyrod we are all still really new to it. Don’t let the running water fool you. We only managed to catch one trout but we caught several white bass and crappie. I never thought I would try fly fishing for white bass or crappie but man it was fun. The fight these fish put up in this current is insane. Even the small fish have the flyrods bent over.

All in all, we had a great day of fishing after all of the other fishermen gave up and went home. All of the fish we caught were just below the low water dam. We were casting our flies out to the current edge and letting it drift down. If trout fishing isn’t your thing you can catch almost any of Oklahoma species in this river. The mouth of the river is where monster striper can be caught. It is believed that the striper can grow so large from eating small trout.

Today I try to complete my June MTB Panfish Slam. I decided to just try it at a pond in my neighborhood. Elm Creek pond has loads of panfish but today only bass wanted to play. I got a late start and arrived around 11:45 and man was it HOT. I already have a subscription to Mystery Tackle Box for bass. I picked up this box at Academy around Christmas. The original plan was to take it to veterans pond in Jenks Oklahoma to try it on trout. This plan like many of my plans didn’t work out as intended. All in all, I had a great time catching fish and trying new bait. I think I could have completed this challenge if the crankbait would have ran straighter. Today I am bringing you the GARMIN ECHOMAP 93SV install tutorial on the TRACKER V-18 boat. If you have a boat with locators already installed on it then this should go pretty easy. The only slowdown I really had was how to install the Garmin GT56UHD-TM transducer on my I pilot power drive trolling motor. The key was to wrap the transducer wires loosely around the motor shaft to allow for the turning of the trolling motor. All of the mounting hardware as well as drill templates were included in the box.

We picked these units up from a Black Friday sale at Bass pro. The front GT56UHD-TM transducer is installed on my Power Drive trolling motor with I pilot. The Garmin 93SV at the console is installed using a universal fishfinder ram mount and GT56UHD-TM transducer is mounted on the transom. I show you the Garmin transom mount transducer installation method I used. We show you the highlights of the process and I get them both installed in an afternoon.

Oklahoma brush pile waypoints tutorial. Today I show you how to get thousands of free brush pile waypoints. The information comes straight from the Oklahoma wildlife department’s website through an interactive map. I discovered this information has been around for years but you had to know where to look. The earliest form that I was aware of was an Excel document. On the document, some of the brush piles were installed in the 90s. The interactive map is compiled of the more recently installed ones. Now it’s easier than ever to get thousands of free Oklahoma brush pile waypoints in our Lakes using the ODWC interactive map. This is the newest version of the lake map book that they handed out at the classic several years ago. The main difference between the two is they actually give you the GPS coordinates on the interactive map.

You can now essentially just copy and paste the information. The Oklahoma wildlife department has done a fabulous job of documenting the location of thousands of brush piles in almost all of Oklahoma Lakes. There are even a few brush piles on Grand Lake, Hudson Lake, and Ft Gibson Lake. The GRDA controls these lakes so I didn’t expect the Wildlife Department to have installed any brush there. Now I will show you my process of using Google Earth Pro to store these waypoints. I can then transfer them to my Garmin Locators by using GPSBABEL software. gpsbabel is a free program that will convert Google Earth Pro files to most formats that current locators can read. The only difference between the brands in this tutorial is what file type is needed. This tutorial is sure to make your time on the water more productive.

Today I am bringing you my Google Earth fishing tutorial video. I pair Google Earth Pro with the Navionics web app to find secret honey holes. This strategy can be used while at home before you head to the lake. There are also mobile apps for each if you prefer to use a phone or tablet. I start by using Navionics to find exciting spots based on contours. I then go to google Earth Pro to show the lakes drawn down to see if there is anything that you can’t see when the lake is at a normal pool. If you are using Google Earth Pro you can also drop a pin on the location so you don’t lose it.

I started using this strategy while fishing bass tournaments here in Oklahoma. Even though looking for bass was the primary focus this can be adapted to find any species. If you know what structure and cover your target species uses then this strategy can be modified to find those spots. I am showing this using Oklahoma lakes because that is where I am from. Oklahoma lakes are loaded with spots that most anglers pass up. Using this strategy you can turn your Oklahoma Fishing trips into Oklahoma catching trips.

In my next video, I will show you the next step and this will be how to use ODWC interactive map as well as move these waypoints to your locator. This can be used anywhere in the world with similar results.
